My Last Two Days in Thailand
After leaving Phi Phi on April 3rd, I had made arrangements to meet with two different groups that were delivering Aid. One group in particular was of interest to me . They had been recommended by the Irish embassy and other people that were on Phi Phi during the Tsunami. The organization is the Phuket International Womans Club. www.phuket.com/piwc . I met with Ms. Radcliff, an Irish lady, from the group and discussed some of the scholarship work they had been doing over the last decade. In response to the Tsunami, they had started locating students with potential who are in need of financial aid . She gave me profiles and letters from potential candidates . I will be posting some of these profiles on the web soon. Ms. Radcliff along with advisors from several different school districts had set up a system over the last decade where they could identify students that needed help. It is evident from their work that there is potentially hundreds students in the region that will no longer be able to continue their studies as a direct result of the Tsunami.
